Musichorale, Inc. is a non-profit music organization that has been bringing choral works to the general public through concerts and performances for over 63 years. Musichorale began as the Lindbloom Alumni Acappella Choir under the direction of Arthur Silhan (deceased 2004) with 25 members from the Lindblom High School Choir. Through their performances, the group of alumni encouraged new members to join and expanded their group. In 1947 they changed their name to the Chicago Choral Club. The first rehearsals were held in Ogden Park Fieldhouse. Park Superintendent, Robert Bantz, gave substantial encouragement. When Mr. Bantz was transferred to Marquette Park, the group also moved and remained there until they purchased their own building at 59th and Sacramento. The group had once more expanded and became Musichorale, Inc. in 1958. By 1973 they had outgrown the facility and purchased the historic old Town Hall at 63rd Street and Major.

In 1980 Arthur Silhan's demanding and expanding Lyric Opera schedule, for which he is a charter chorus member, coupled with his teaching and concert agenda, made it necessary for Jeffrey Silhan, his eldest son and member, to direct Musichorale. Under Jeff’s direction, Musichorale continues to enjoy an uninterrupted rehearsal and concert schedule throughout the entire metropolitan area. They have also formed smaller groups that perform independently known as The Ensemble and G.Q.

Performing choral works is not Musichorale's only means. In 1958 the group awarded its first scholarship established by the Willard Neely Family. Today, Helen Recktenwald supports this fund in memory of her brother, Frank Stehlik, who was a long time Musichorale member and who loved children. Four scholarships are awarded each year to young musicians in grades 1 - 12 to help them continue their musical studies. Each year these scholarship winners perform at the Noel and Spring Concerts.

After 25 years in the old Town Hall building, the increasing expenses of ownership and declining membership required them to move to Oak Lawn where they currently reside.  The membership roster has grown over the years and now includes nearly 90 members from high school age and up.
